Agreement:

Signed in 1960 between India and Pakistan, facilitated by the World Bank, to manage shared river waters.

Rivers Covered: 

Allocates waters of six rivers in the Indus Basin: Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej.

Water Division: 

India gets full use of eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas, Sutlej); Pakistan gets primary rights to western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab).

Dispute Resolution: 

Establishes a Permanent Indus Commission for cooperation and a mechanism for resolving conflicts, including arbitration.

Allows India limited use of western rivers for hydropower and irrigation, subject to strict design and volume restrictions.
